This morning I was with a group of "my girls" and sharing with them some of the lessons I am trying to learn about floating. At the end of the conversation, one of them made a remarkable observation that I thought was worth passing on. She said that if we're able to stop flailing long enough to float, we can actually serve as a lifeboat for others that are drowning. I've been pondering that ever since.
If I'm out swimming and flailing about, I'm not going to have the energy or focus to be of much help to anyone else. And besides that, no one would be drawn to even ask me for help, because I'm obviously not doing that well at keeping my own head above water : ).
But if I can relax enough to trust and surrender, I'll not only be able to float myself, but I could become an anchor of sorts for someone who is beginning to sink. I love that thought. It reminds me that my floating is not just important for me, it can also be a lifesaver for those around me. Great reason to keep those swimming lessons going : )!

Laurie, I also thought that was a profound statement. I wholeheartedly agree that "my floating is not just important for me, it can also be a lifesaver for those around me."
