He will make things right

I can't tell you how many times I listened to the song yesterday afternoon, but it was alot.  I just had a heavy heart and I needed some encouragement.  I was thinking about Ann's funeral coming up, but it was much more than that.  It just seems like an extraordinary number of people in our lives are in very painful circumstances right now - loss of loved ones, serious illnesses, horrible accidents, long-time unemployment, wayward children, broken marriages and families - and the list goes on.  As I was praying for some of those people yesterday, I remembered the song.

My daughter and her husband wrote the song awhile ago, and the first time I heard it, it captured my heart.  The melody is beautiful, but it was the words that drew me to it yesterday.  Because in the middle of such brokenness, the words offered a reason for hope:

You will make things right,
Yes, You will make things right.
No more death,
No more suffering,
No more pain,
The old order will pass away,
And You will make things right.
Hosanna!!  The King is coming!!
And You will make things right.

That's not all the words, but those are the words that keep ringing in my heart.  Because Jesus has made us a promise that He intends to keep.  Someday soon He will return and completely redeem the mess that we've made of this world.  That's good news!  But the other good news is that we don't have to wait for someday.  Jesus already came the first time - and because of that, there is redemption and grace offered for the brokenness we live in today.  He still heals broken bodies, broken hearts, broken relationships.  He doesn't promise to bring happy endings to all the stories, but He does promise to bring His strength and presence and love to those who are willing to put their hope in Him.  And that's alot to be encouraged about : )!  He will make things right - now and forever.

p.s.  If you want to actually "hear" the song : ), you can find it on Jeana's "my space" page: http://www.myspace.com/jeanamaster
